About Sigma Nu
The Sigma Nu Building Association, aka Sigma Nu Housing Corporation, is the legal non-profit 501(c)8 Nebraska corporation that holds the legal title of and acts as official landlord for the Delta Eta chapter home on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s historic Greek Row. The Association’s principal responsibility is to manage the chapter home and its supporting funds. Its goal is to provide the necessary resources to maintain and improve the general fraternity property as well as to raise and manage funds to support scholarships awarded to promising and meritorious candidates and active collegiate members of the Delta Eta Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity.
The Sigma Nu Alumni Association exists for the primary purposes of: 1) providing for the care and preservation of fraternity/chapter records and history; 2) protecting the collegiate chapter under a state of alumni receivership; 3) advancing, fostering and extending the principles and policies of the fraternity; 4) recruiting Delta Eta alumni for Board participation and volunteer opportunities that benefit the fraternity; 5) maintaining social cohesiveness of the Delta Eta alumni chapter by providing outlets for social interaction and networking; 6) providing the collegiate chapter support in the development and maintenance of special events, philanthropies, and social capital; 7) providing educational support to the collegiate chapter through Sigma Nu's LEAD program and other means; and 8) raising and managing private funds for the sole benefit of the chapter house and the Delta Eta collegiate chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity; including, but not limited to house repairs and improvements, furnishings, collegiate scholarships, and academic awards.
The Sigma Nu Building Association and Sigma Nu Alumni Association share a single Board of Directors. This Board structure and its functions, and those of other alumni and affinity groups are currently under evaluation as the Board and alumni chapter seek to enhance productivity and increase capacity to better serve and advance the fraternity. All alumni of the Delta Eta chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity are welcome and encouraged to participate in this evaluation and invited to discuss the activities of the Board and collegiate chapter, including but not limited to Board processes, Office functions, alumni volunteer opportunities, and general advocacy of the fraternity.
